We are grateful to have the support of so many people throughout the City and County.

Thanks to the generous donations of many of you, we were able to successfully win our lawsuit against Sonoma County, and were also able to hire a financial expert to expose significant problems with a past proposed buyer’s offer which led to that offer being withdrawn.

As the new owner of the Chanate property starts the development process with the City of Santa Rosa, beginning with the demolishment of all the unoccupied buildings, followed by obtaining approval by the City of his proposed development, we will be monitoring the process as it moves along including making sure that the requisite Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”) be obtained for the Chanate property.

EIRs are a detailed analysis of the impacts of the proposed demolition and/or development on the property.  We expect that Friends of Chanate will need to hire subject experts to challenge any portions of EIRs that are inadequate.

Friends of Chanate is particularly concerned about safety of all existing and future residents, as one example of potential impacts of any activity on the Chanate property.

When that time comes, we will be asking for your financial support, again.

It is essential that only the safest and best possible development be allowed on the Chanate property.

Together we made a difference before, and together we will be able to make a difference now!
